Me Before You will give you ALL THE FEELS. In order to read: prep the tissue box on your nightstand. This book is filled with British humor and had me crying laughing. Half way through, slowly inch closer to the tissue box. Things are still funny but I started to feel rather misty. Three-quarters of the way in, move the tissue box onto your lap and use as needed. I bawled through the last fifty pages.
The story follows Louisa Clark and Will Traynor's unlikely love story. Louisa is a bit lost. She can't hold a job and is still living with her parents in the tiny British village she grew up in. (I love British humor. FYI.) She is hired as a caretaker to Will, a quadriplegic man. A wealthy, powerful man in his past, Will resents his present. His surly demeanor makes him a burden to those around him, particularly to Louisa. However, the two slowly begin to affect one another in surprising ways.
The story is filled with hilarious and witty remarks. It also contains some really heavy emotional quandaries to ponder. I rode this emotional roller coaster like I was at six flags and I loved every minute of it.
