My husband recently asked me why I hadn't blogged in a while and I said I dunno . . . does anyone really read my blog? And he replied that some people did. I thought . . . he's right! This brief conversation fanned the blog related smolders in my heart and I decided to continue making my unsolicited book recommendations. My small yet faithful following deserves it!
So here's the thing about this book. I really liked it. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Was it Shakespeare? No. It was not Shakespeare. Was it intellectually stimulating? No. It was not intellectually stimulating. But that's why I liked it! I read this bad boy on the honeymoon and it just hit the spot. Its light and fun and had just the predictable ending I look for in my rom com type novels.
The book stars Marjorie, a former popular girl who peaked at 17 and is struggling to turn things around in her late twenties. Life forces her out of Manhattan into Brooklyn while simultaneously forcing her to reevaluate her life. She falls for guy #1: rich, arrogant, pest who we readers hope might actually have a heart of gold (if only in regard to Marjorie). Then she falls for guy #2: slightly socially awkward creative genius who we readers recognize is just the type of guy Marjorie needs.
Take a bubble bath and bring this book with you. I give it four out of five stars for delivering just the storyline I hoped for.
